Charity event ‘Over The Edge’ set to kick off in Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Over The Edge, a charity event to benefit the charity Love Columbia, is set to kick off Saturday morning, allowing participants to scale down the Tiger Hotel.

The event, set to kick of at 9 a.m. Saturday, is put on to raise money for Love Columbia. The charity serves anyone in Columbia, "who is struggling to provide for their basic needs or improve their life and wants help to create a path forward."

"Going 'over the edge' means that you will team up with us to raise funds to show support for our neighbors in need who are looking for a path forward." The charity said in a post on its website. "Without our community they could go 'over the edge' and into dire circumstances.  We are thankful that you are coming along with us on this adventure."

Love Columbia has already reported over $132,000 raised for the charity, surpassing its event goal of $120,000. Donations are still open on the event's website.

Anyone registered is eligible to rappel down Columbia's tallest building, if they hit a fundraising goal of at least $1,000.

The event is sponsored by ABC 17 News.
