FRIDAY UPDATES: Boone County reports three new coronavirus-related deaths

The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services reported three new coronavirus-related deaths. The first individual was in the 60-64 age group and died Sept. 25. The second individual was in the 70-74 age group and died Sept. 29. The third individual was in the 80+ age group and died Sept. 29. The county now has 172 coronavirus-related deaths.

The county reported 42 new COVID-19 cases from Thursday. There are currently 294 active cases in the county.

The county reported 25,068 cases removed from isolation.

Boone County ranks eighth in the state with the most coronavirus cases in total volume in the past week. Cases are up 8% when comparing last week to the prior week. The county has a 6.7% positive test rate, according to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS).

The health department's hospital status is green with 36 COVID-19 patients in Boone County hospitals and nine of them being Boone County residents. Of those, nine are in intensive care and five are on ventilators.

The Missouri coronavirus vaccine dashboard reports that 104,425 residents have received their first dose in Boone County and 94,630 Boone County residents have completed their vaccine doses.

Boone County has the third-largest percentage of county residents in Missouri that have received at least one dose of the vaccine with 57.9%. The largest county in the state is St. Louis County with 60.2%.

Boone County is third in the state with a reported 52.4% of residents that have completed their coronavirus vaccine doses. St. Louis County is the first county in the state with 54% of residents have completed the doses for vaccination. The city of Joplin has 57.1% of the population fully vaccinated.

Cole County has the second-highest first vaccination rate in Mid-Missouri with 50.9%. Callaway County is third with 46.4%.

The Columbia Public Schools reports active coronavirus and quarantine cases to their website daily.

The district reported a 20.1 14-day rate per 10,000 for Friday.

CPS reports nine district facilities (seven elementary schools and two district-wide facilities) currently have staff out because of COVID-19. There are eight staff members at elementary schools and two staff members at a district-wide facility. The district has one staff member at an elementary school currently quarantined because of COVID.

The district reports 28 district facilities to have students currently out due to the coronavirus. There are 17 out of 21 elementary, all of the middle schools, three high schools and one district-wide facility affected.

There are 27 students that have tested positive for COVID-19. The district is reporting 16 students in elementary, four students in middle school, and seven students in high school have tested positive for the coronavirus.

There are 166 students which are required to quarantine due to the coronavirus. The district reports 115 elementary students are currently quarantining, 31 students in middle school, 18 students in high school and two at other district facilities.

Cole County reports 18 new coronavirus cases, two new coronavirus-related death

The Cole County Health Department reported 18 new coronavirus cases from Thursday.

According to the dashboard update, there are 11,181 residential cases and 286 long-term care facility resident cases. That is 11,467 total cases in the county.

Cole County reported two new coronavirus deaths, with a  total of 165 coronavirus deaths since the pandemic began.

Cole County ranks 34th in the state for counties with the most coronavirus cases per 100,000 in the past week. Cases are up 4.7% when comparing last week to the prior week. The county has a 8.4% positivity test rate, according to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

The Missouri coronavirus vaccine dashboard reports about 50.9% of the county have initiated their first dose of the vaccine and 46.7% of the county's population have been fully vaccinated.

The Jefferson City School District reported two new coronavirus cases in students and one new case in staff from Thursday.

The district is reporting nine active cases in students and one active case in staff.

The district is reporting 40 close contacts for students and one close contact for staff.

Boone County reports 22 new cases from Wednesday after reporting delay

The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services reported 22 new COVID-19 cases from Wednesday. The department reported Thursday the information hub would not be updated till Friday morning.

There are currently 287 active cases in the county, a decrease of three from Wednesday.

The county reported 25,036 cases removed from isolation, an increase of 25 from Wednesday.

The health department's hospital status is green with 41 COVID-19 patients in Boone County hospitals and 11 of them being Boone County residents. Of those, five are in intensive care and four are on ventilators.

State health department reports more than 1,085 new cases of COVID-19

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reported more than 1,080 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday.

According to the state health department, PCR testing found 790 new cases of the virus. That's above Missouri's daily average of 678 cases for the testing method.

Data from DHSS shows antigen testing found 302 probable new coronavirus cases. That's also above the state's daily average of 302 cases for the testing method.

Missouri's seven-day positivity rate increased Friday from 6.4% on Thursday to 6.6%.

Eight more people in Missouri died from virus-related causes, according to the state health department. Missouri reports 12,051 people have died from COVID-19 since the pandemic started.

According to DHSS, 1,088 people are hospitalized in Missouri with the virus. Of those patients, 179 are on ventilators.

More than 3.3 million Missourians have started the vaccination process against COVID-19. That's 55.2% of Missouri's population.

Data from the state health department shows more than 293,000 booster shots have been given out.
