Homecoming returns for Columbia College

Homecoming festivities have made a comeback this year for Columbia College after the pandemic canceled last year's events.
Columbia College is welcoming students, alumni, families and friends back to the main campus for a Homecoming celebration October 15-16.
Event schedule:
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 15: The inaugural Homecoming Festival is open to the campus community from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. This event is meant to get all our Cougars into the Homecoming spirit with games, live music, food trucks and giveaways. Student organizations are scheduled to participate in the Shopping Cart Parade.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 16: Open to the public and free for all guests, festivities will take place on the Quad from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., followed by a Cougar soccer doubleheader against Lyon College (Ark.).
Activities include:
- Homecoming Brunch hosted by the St. Clair Society
- Family-friendly activities (face painting, caricatures, pumpkin decorating, live music)
- Tailgate BBQ on the Quad
- Hospitality tent and campus tours hosted by the Columbia College Alumni Association
- Photography exhibit in Brown Hall: “Being Close and Staying Longer” featuring work by famed photographer Bruce Davidson from the college’s permanent collection
- Archives open in Dorsey Hall
- Women’s soccer: 1:30 p.m. at R. Marvin Owens Field
- Men’s soccer: 4 p.m. at R. Marvin Owens Field
Columbia College Senior Coordinator Sarah Naji said the school is ready to welcome back homecoming for 2021.
"We are so excited to welcome everyone back in person in 2021! The momentum of the energy of having everyone on campus has been so wonderful and we're just so happy to be able to do in-person events again," Naji said.
After COVID-19 canceled last year's events, COVID-19 precautions will be in place.
Masks are required indoors in all Columbia College buildings but will be holding a lot of the events outdoors.
Columbia College currently has four total active COVID-19 cases in the community.
The University of Missouri (Mizzou) held homecoming last weekend after also canceling last year's events.
Last weekend Mizzou had 22 active cases on Friday, the first day of homecoming. The university is now sitting at 26 active COVID-19 cases.
