Mizzou football gets win on homecoming
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Mizzou football team snapped its two-game losing streak with a homecoming win over North Texas on Saturday. The Tigers beat the Mean Green 48-35 to improve to 3-3 on the season.

Mizzou's defense line stepped up after the firing of defensive line coach Jethro Franklin this past Sunday. MU finished with three sacks and ten tackles for loss. The defense came away with three turnovers, but the Tigers still gave up nearly 500 yards of total offense.
On the Mean Green's first drive of the game, Kris Abrams-Draine came up with an interception to give the Tigers great field position. MU capitalized quickly as Tyler Badie ran it in for a 12-yard touchdown.
Quarterback Connor Bazelak threw a touchdown pass to Tyler Badie on the Tigers next possession. It capped off a 12 play, 76-yard drive. MU was up 14-0 after the first quarter.
North Texas got on the board at the beginning of the second quarter. Running back Isaiah Johnson ran it in for a score to pull the Mean Green within a touchdown. The Tigers responded right away as Bazelak connected with JJ Hester for a 41-yard touchdown. That gave MU a 21-7 lead with 9:47 to go in the first half.
MU's offense did not let up. Tyler Badie ran for a 52-yard touchdown to give the Tigers a 28-7 lead with 5:57 to go in the first half. It was Badie's third touchdown of the game.
The Tigers added a 48-yard field goal from Harrison Mevis late in the second quarter go into halftime up 31-7.
Mizzou started the second half strong as the Tigers forced a turnover on North Texas's first possession. Kris Abrams-Draine recovered a fumble to give the ball back to Mizzou. However, MU could not take advantage of the takeaway. After a Mizzou punt, North Texas scored a touchdown to make it 31-14. The Tigers were held scoreless in the third quarter.
Harrison Mevis gave Mizzou its first points of the second half as he drilled a 40-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. Shortly after, Mizzou defensive lineman Trajan Jeffcoat deflected a pass right into the hands of his teammate Mekhi Wingo. The freshman returned the interception for a touchdown to make it 41-14.
North Texas scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but the Tigers were able to hold on for the win.
