Mizzou football gets set for homecoming matchup with North Texas

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou football team is gearing up for its homecoming matchup with North Texas on Saturday at 3 p.m. Head coach Eli Drinkwitz spoke at his weekly news conference on Tuesday.

This was the first time Drinkwitz met with reporters since he fired defensive line coach Jethro Franklin on Sunday.

"It was clear to me there was a disconnect at the line of scrimmage," Drinkwitz said.

The Tigers are 2-3 after a blowout loss to Tennessee on Saturday. Meanwhile, North Texas is 1-3 on the season. MU is 1-0 all-time against the Mean Green. Mizzou's one and only matchup against North Texas was a 28-7 win at Faurot Field in 1995.

Drinkwitz said the Tigers are once again focusing on correcting their defense ahead of Saturday's game. MU has the worst rushing defense among division one teams, allowing 307 yards on the ground per game. The Mean Green could present even more problems for the Tigers. North Texas is averaging 207 yards rushing per contest, which is 26th in the nation.
