CROP Hunger Walk held Sunday in Columbia
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Columbia CROP Hunger Walk was held Sunday at the MU Health Care Pavillion. This is a community-wide effort working to help end hunger one step at a time for 26 years.
The group, Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty, is sponsored by Church World Service and organized by the Columbia CROP Walk Planning Team consisting of 22 local religious and community groups.
Funds raised fight hunger in the community, across the US and around the world.
"We support four food pantries in the Columbia area as well as some national and international hunger programs," said Linda Brown, one of the event coordinators.
Greg and Kristen Thackery are members of the Missouri United Methodist Church and they've attended the walk for many years. They said the walk is a great thing for the community to do in efforts to end hunger.
