Multiple people taken to hospital after first responder struck vehicle

MONTGOMERY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Two people have been transported to the hospital with serious injuries after a crash involving a first responder in Montgomery County.

According to a crash report, the crash happened just before 6:00 p.m. on Route A in Wellsville.

The crash, happened after a first responder was responding to an emergency call with their lights activated. The first responder then failed to yield to a vehicle in the intersection and hit the car, running it off the road and into a stop sign.

The driver of the emergency vehicle Patrick Powers, 29, was not wearing a seatbelt.

As of Saturday morning, Powers had been treated and released from University Hospital according to MU Health Care.
