Two children in Chariton County were seriously injured in an ATV crash on Saturday night.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Report, a five-year-old boy was driving a Honda 500 TRX ATV along Zion Ave., when he lost control of the ATV and it overturned. The crash threw both the five-year-old boy and an eight-year-old girl off the vehicle. The report states the boy was driving too fast for the road conditions.

Both the boy and girl were seriously injured in the crash and flown to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.

Both children are from Mendon, Missouri.
