A federal grand jury indicted a Holts Summit man Tuesday for the armed robbery of a Dollar General store in Jefferson City.

Tyler Steven Mitchell Williams, 24, was charged with armed robbery and brandishing and using a firearm during a crime of violence.

Williams is accused of using a Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun to rob the Dollar General store at 1414 Missouri Blvd. on July 7. During the investigation, officers identified Williams and his vehicle based on surveillance video. Officers located and arrested him a few hours after the robbery occurred.

A store employee told police that a masked man in dark clothing demanded money from the cash register at gunpoint that morning before noon. The clerk gave him the money and was not injured, police said.

After being read his Miranda Rights, Williams told investigators that he was at the Dollar General that morning but denied taking part or knowing of a robbery.
