Man charged with harassment after an incident at Gerbes

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man is facing a harassment charge after a June 10 incident at Gerbes Supermarket off Broadway.

According to court documents, the victim told police that Ronald Dameron followed her around the store. The victim said she told him to stop following her.

The victim came forward after recognizing Dameron's face after an invasion of privacy news release came out. Dameron is charged with five counts of invasion of privacy in a little more than two months.

Dameron is currently in custody at Boone County Jail after his bond was denied in late July due to the previous invasion of privacy cases.

Dameron will not be charged as a sex offender. In Missouri, the crimes that require a person to register as a sex offender include kidnapping a child, prostitution, sexually exploiting a child, child pornography, obscenity, incest, sexual contact with a resident of a nursing home and sexual abuse. Invasion of privacy does not fall under these charges.
