COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Missouri Department of Transportation’s project to improve the driving surface of Stadium Boulevard in Columbia is impacting entrance and exit ramps on I-70 throughout the week.

The I-70 eastbound exit ramp and the westbound entrance ramp were closed Monday night through the morning and will be closed again Tuesday starting at 7 p.m. One lane of northbound Stadium Boulevard will also be closed Tuesday night into the morning.

ABC 17 saw crews out Tuesday morning working on the ramps. Roads opened back up before 6 a.m.

On Wednesday and Thursday the I-70 westbound exit ramp and eastbound entrance ramp will be closed as well as several southbound lanes of Stadium Boulevard.

Work will take place between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. each day. There will be message boards out for drivers that will detour I-70 motorists around the Stadium Boulevard ramp closures, using the West Boulevard interchange.

Officials are encouraging drivers to stay focused in the work area, obey traffic signs, and give crews room to work.

All the work is weather permitting and could be delayed, it is currently unclear when the entire project will be finished.

As of Tuesday morning, the new pavement on Stadium Boulevard extended until the intersection with Broadway. From Broadway to Highway 63, the roadway's grooved pavement remained unfinished.
