Lincoln officially introduces new athletic director

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Lincoln University officially introduced Kevin Wilson as its new athletic director on Monday afternoon.

Wilson started his new role as the vice president of advancement, athletics and campus recreation on July 1. He said he's excited to be a part of the LU community.

"Honestly, it's the family feel," Wilson said. "I think so many times we get really kind of caught up in our jobs and forget that this is just games. These are sports, and it's supposed to be fun. We're supposed to enjoy what we're doing, and I look forward to just enjoying what I'm doing again."

Wilson brings a ton of experience with him to LU. He most recently worked at Florida A&M University. He's also had stops at Washington State and Central Florida.

Wilson's first job in collegiate athletics was at NC Central. He was the director of basketball operations for the Eagles. Coincidentally, former LU athletic director and current interim president John Moseley was an assistant coach there at the same time.

"At that point, he was cutting his teeth in higher education athletics, and so it was a learning curve for him," Moseley said. "But, it was a lot of fun and he grew a lot during that time."

Wilson earned his bachelor's degree from Duke, where he also played college football. He also has his master's degree and is currently pursuing a doctorate degree as well.
