8 killed in accidents, no drownings in Missouri over holiday weekend

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

State troopers reported seven people died in traffic crashes and one in a boating incident over the Fourth of July weekend.

However, no one drowned.

Troopers worked 294 crashes over the holiday counting period in 2020 which includes 107 injuries and five deaths. Troopers arrested 145 people for DWI in 2020 and worked 14 boat crashes with seven injuries and no deaths.

Troopers also worked 12 boating crashes that included four injuries and one death.

One of the seven traffic deaths happened in the Mid-Missouri area. A Stover man died Saturday night when a vehicle turned in front of his motorcycle on Highway 52 in Morgan County, the patrol reported.

The holiday counting period started at 6 p.m. Friday and ended at 11:59 p.m. Monday.
