Capital City football team under new leadership this summer

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

There's a hint of Rock Bridge on the Capital City football field this summer. Former Bruins defensive coordinator Joe Collier is the new head coach of the Cavaliers.

He brought four assistant coaches with him to Jefferson City, including Jonah Dubinski. The former Mizzou offensive lineman is the Cavs new offensive coordinator.

CCHS has its first ever senior class this season. Coach Collier said there are 12 seniors on this year's roster - including running back Ethan Wood.

"It's pretty humbling to basically be the first one's coming through here," Wood said. "We want to leave our mark and show everybody what we can do.

He added, "We feel like we kind of have something to prove to everybody else, so we're just ready for this season."

Last season - Capital City won its first ever varsity game. Coach Collier said it's been great to watch the leadership on his team grow in just the short amount of time he's been with the program.

"They want to leave their legacy, so it's been pretty awesome," Collier said.

Collier added the Cavaliers will once again play their home games at Adkins Stadium this season. The team is able to practice on its new field, but there still aren't any bleachers. He hopes the Cavs will be able to play at home in 2022.
