FRIDAY STORM UPDATES: Multiple water rescue reported in Jefferson City
Jefferson City Fire Department is reporting multiple water rescues Friday evening.
Officials say people need to make smart choices and not drive through water.
Officials report at least a dozen people pulled from the water in stranded vehicles.
Area fire departments report morning water rescues
Area fire protection districts and fire departments are reporting multiple water rescues this morning after storms and flooding.
Howard County Fire Protection Districts is reporting over 20 people were pulled from Flood waters in a Facebook post Friday evening. Officials say those resuced were in home with rast rising water and some were in vehicles.
Glasgow Fire Department responded to six weather related emergencies.
The department reported responding to two power lines down, an emergency road closure, and three requests for the inflatable rescue boat. Numerous residents in Franklin were brought to dry ground by responders in watercraft.
Highway 63 near Highway 163 J urn reopens after water recedes
Just over 30 minutes later after closing Highway 63, Boone County Joint Communications is reporting the highway is back open after the water has receded.

Boone County Joint Communications is reporting a crash on southbound Highway 63 near Hwy 163 J-turn.
Officials report both northbound and southbound closed.
Corporal Kyle Green with Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop F said “MODOT is aware of the water over the road and is shutting 63 down.”
Multiple locations reporting storm damage in Columbia
Several trees have fallen into homes after a recent storm has moved through the Columbia area.
Brad Frazier with Columbia Fire Department says, "We’re starting to see some downed trees. Specifically down tree on Redbud Lane, a tree on fire from downed power lines on Brandon Road and a tree on a power line on Belleview Court.”
No one was reported injured at either location.
Multiple outages reported across Mid-Missouri
Columbia Water and Light is reporting 1,108 customers currently without power. The largest number is 751 customers in southwest Columbia near Grindstone and Highway 63. The second-largest number is 185 customers without power is off St. Charles Road and Kipling area.
Callaway Electric Cooperative is reporting 132 customers without power.
Boone Electric Co-op is reporting 1,813 customers currently without power.
Boone Electric Cooperate is reporting customers in the Bethel and Old Plank Road area will be without power for an extended period of time.
A tweet reports multiple trees have downed power lines in the area.
Ameren Missouri is reporting 4,624 customers are without power currently in Jefferson City.
18-year-old rescued after going swimming in floodwaters
Columbia Fire Department Battalion Chief Eric Caszatt confirmed an 18-year-old woman went swimming in flood waters at Scott and M-K-T Nature/Fitness Trail.
According to Battalion Chief Caszatt the 18-year-old became distressed and bystanders went out to get help.
The woman was taken University Hospital for treatment.
Columbia Parks and Rec warns about flooded trails and parks
People should stay off the city's trail system, any roads into parks that are barricaded and parking lots that are flooded while Columbia Parks and Recreation staff assess those areas, the department said Friday in a news release.
Storms dumped heavy rain on Columbia and other parts of Mid-Missouri on Thursday night and again Friday morning. Columbia picked up more than 6 inches, with more rain on the way Friday afternoon and into Saturday.
Parks and Rec areas that tend to flood are along the MKT Trail, Hinkson Creek Trail, Twin Lakes Recreation Area, Hominy Creek Trail and the Grindstone Nature Area, the parks department said. Those locations were underwater or the trail surfaces were damaged as of Friday afternoon, the release said.
Parks officials warned trail users to never go around barricades because they could be swept away by deceptively deep water.
Most of the needed cleanup and repairs will begin Monday, the department said.
More state highways close because of flooding
Much of highways 124 and 240 between the Boone/Howard County line and Glasgow was closed because of flooding, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation's traveler information map.
The number of flooded state roads in Mid-Missouri listed on the map has grown as water from heavy morning rains continues to flow into creeks and rivers. The map listed highways 40 and 5 and Route Z outside New Franklin as closed by flooding just after noon. Routes W and A outside the Moniteau Creek Conservation Area in Howard County were also closed.
Flooding has also closed parts of Route D in Moniteau County, highways 5 and 87 in Cooper County and Route B in Cooper County.
Flood warning issued for Mid-Missouri counties

Boone County, western Audrain County, central Callaway County, northern Cole County and northeastern Moniteau County is under a flood warning until 3:30 p.m. Friday.
The warning is separate from earlier flash flood warnings that affected some of those areas and indicates the likelihood of more prolonged flooding. The weather service reported widespread flooding of low-lying areas and road closures with 3 to 6 inches of rain having fallen on the area.
A Columbia Fire Department spokesman said firefighters were sent to five water rescue calls but rescue wasn't necessary at any of them. Two of those calls were on busy Providence Road at Mick Deaver Drive. The flooded and closed roads also delayed Columbia Public Schools summer school bus routes, a district spokeswoman said.
The Missouri Department of Transportation has added Route E northwest of Columbia to its list of flooded roads in the area.
Officials report water rescues on flooded Boone County roads
Emergency management authorities reported multiple water rescues Friday morning as drivers tried to plow through floodwaters over roads.
Boone County emergency managers reported water rescues on Creasy Springs Road and at Roemer and Blackfoot. The National Weather Service also received a report of people trapped by floodwaters in a home in the 3400 block of Hinkson Creek Road in northeast Columbia. Dispatchers sent an alert shortly after 8 a.m. that St. Charles Road was closed at Doziers Station Road.
County dispatchers sent an alert saying water was over the road at Providence and Mick Deaver and the weather service reported Providence Road closed by floodwaters between Stadium and Green Meadows.
The weather service also reported Strawn Road closed at Worley Street in Columbia and a washed out road in the 525 block of West Dripping Springs.
The Missouri Department of Transportation reported Route WW east of Columbia closed because of flooding. The agency said flooding also closed Highway 40 in the Midway area and Route ZZ (Strawn Road) in west Columbia.
Ameren restores power after morning outages
Ameren Missouri crews had restored power to hundreds of customers left in the dark in Mid-Missouri by 6 a.m. Friday, according to the utility's online outage map.
The utility's outage map showed that outages that affected more than 850 Ameren customers in the Jefferson City area earlier in the morning had been fixed. More than 200 in the Bunceton area had their power restored after losing it at about 1 a.m., according to the map.
Another 300-plus Co-Mo Electric Cooperative members remained in the dark at 6 a.m. along with about 140 Consolidated Electric Cooperative members in Audrain County.
Boone County emergency dispatchers issued an alert saying Providence Road at Stadium Boulevard was closed because of flooding at about 6:15 a.m.
The National Weather Service reported a water rescue on Creasy Springs Road at Bear Creek. The agency said reported a vehicle had been swept away by floodwaters and a person who had been in the vehicle was clinging to a tree. The weather service also reported about 6 inches of water over Old Route K at Research Park Drive.
Storms cause flash flooding; Ameren reports more than 1,000 without power
More than 1,000 local Ameren Missouri customers were without power before daybreak Friday morning as strong storms continued to rumble through Mid-Missouri.
The utility's online outage map reported more than 850 customers in the Jefferson City area had lost electricity along with more than 200 in the Bunceton area. Consolidated Electric Cooperative reported another 327 without power in Cooper County. Evergy reported more than 350 customers without power in the Glasgow area. Consolidated Electric Cooperative reported another 141 of its members had no electricity in Audrain County.
Utility companies warned Thursday about the potential for outages ahead of the strong storms that hit the area starting late Thursday night.
The storms dumped several inches of rain -- the University of Missouri's Sanborn Field recorded more than 5 inches of rain between midnight and 5 a.m. Friday -- that flooded roads, particularly in Boone County.
The National Weather Service has placed much of Boone County and parts of Callaway, Audrain and Montgomery counties under flash flood warnings until mid-morning. The agency later issued a warning for Cooper County until 8:30 a.m.
The weather service posted several reports about flooding causing problems in Boone County. Those problems include floodwaters in a residence west of Columbia, water over the road at Roemer and West Obermiller roads, Hinkson creeks out of its banks southeast of Columbia and vehicles stuck in floodwaters near Columbia.
Boone County emergency dispatchers issued warnings about several more flooded roads: Highway 40 at Route J; Sinclair Road at Chesterfield Drive; Gillespie Bridge Road at Mesa Drive; Nifong Boulevard and Glen Eagle; Oakland Gravel at Bear Creek; West Old Plank at Forum; and Creasy Springs Road at Rocky Fork Creek.

Most of Boone County and much of Callaway, Audrain and Montgomery counties were under a flash flood watch Friday morning as heavy rain continued to pour onto already saturated ground.
The rounds of heavy rain began late Thursday and continued into the early morning, dropping nearly 5 inches of rain since midnight on the University of Missouri's weather station at Sanborn Field. The National Weather Service tweeted that it has received numerous reports of flash flooding in Columbia and surrounding areas, encouraging drivers to avoid flooded areas.

The Boone County Office of Emergency Management and other law enforcement agencies have passed along several reports of flooded roads. One of the reports stated multiple vehicles were stuck in flood waters in Columbia, located near Providence Road and Worley Street.
ABC 17 News crews saw at least two vehicles stopped in roadways with hazard lights flashing.
