Missouri moves back into substantial transmission level of COVID-19
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
According to the state profile report, Missouri has moved back into the substantial transmission level of COVID-19.
For the past month, the state has been bouncing back and forth between the moderate and substantial transmission level. May 21st was the first time this year the state had dropped to the moderate level.
The report this week states the Show-Me State has jumped back up to the substantial transmission level due to a few factors including the 24% increase in COVID-19 cases compared to the previous week. The state also saw a total of 3,514 new COVID-19 cases during this time period.
The report outlines an additional 13 counties have joined the high transmission level and 10 counties have left the low transmission level categories.
Currently Boone County, Cole County and Callaway are all currently within the moderate county transmission level. Macon and Randolph County who both have lower vaccinated levels, are one transmission level higher at the moderate transmission level.
According to the state COVID-19 public health dashboard, the state has seen just under a 6% increase in cases within the past seven days.
According to the state vaccination dashboard, Boone County is currently the most vaccinated county in the state with nearly half of all residents receiving at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine.
Pulaski County is currently the least vaccinated county with exactly 13% of residents receiving at least one dose of the vaccine. Pulaski County falls within the moderate transmission level according to the latest state report.
