Warsaw homeowner dies in Saturday morning house fire
WARSAW, Mo. (KMIZ)
A homeowner in Warsaw died in a house fire after re-entering the home with a fire extinguisher in an attempt to extinguish the flames.
On Saturday around 1 a.m., Benton County Central Dispatch received an 911 call about a residential structure fire at 1636 Estates Dr., Warsaw, Missouri.
According to a Facebook post from the Warsaw Police Department, when officials got there they saw the rear of the residence engulfed in flames. That was when responding units were advised the homeowner may still be in the home.
Officials then discovered the homeowner, whose name is being withheld until family can be notified, had died in the fire.
The Missouri State Fire Marshal was called to the scene to investigate the circumstances of the fire.
Sean McCannon, chief of police said, "This was a tragic loss of life and our thoughts and prayers go out to the family."
According to the Facebook post, the cause of the fire was not suspicious in nature. The investigation is still ongoing.
