Summer forecast

Yesterday’s Stormtrack Insider took a look back at the weather we saw during May. Today, Meteorologist Maddie Est tells us what we can expect as we continue into the month of June.

As summer approaches, many of us are looking forward to long days full of sunshine and warmth, but those dreams fully depend on the forecast.

The Climate Prediction Center has released their summer outlooks for the United States, and here in mid-Missouri, conditions look to stay near normal. The east coast is expected to see above average rainfall while the west coast will once again experience drought conditions.

Temperature-wise, most of the nation will experience above average temperatures through the summer excluding a few lucky states. Per the CPC, mid-Missouri looks to be lucky with normal temperatures through August.

Our average conditions during the summer months involve temperatures averaging in the mid to upper 70s with near 4” of accumulating rainfall each month.

It looks like Mother Nature is allowing us to have a pleasant summer ahead. Reporting for the Stormtrack Insider, I’m Meteorologist Maddie Est.
