Intersection of Route K, Sinclair Road and Old Plank Road to close until fall for roundabout construction
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A contractor for the City of Columbia will close the intersection of Route K at Sinclair Road and Old Plank Road for the construction of a single-lane roundabout.
The intersection will be closed between June 7 and August 16, weather permitting, for construction of the roundabout. The roundabout is expected to be operational by late summer and the project fully completed by late fall of 2021.
Crews started work Wednesday, but won't close the intersection until Monday.
During the closure, Sinclair Road will be inaccessible from Route K. Motorists are advised to find alternate routes. Old Plank Road will be accessible from Route K from the west side of the intersection via a temporary road. Motorists, pedestrians and non-motorized transportation users a re encouraged to exercise extreme caution when in the work zone.
This construction is part of the Sinclair Road and Route K roundabout project which includes the construction of a single-lane roundabout with splitter islands and a sidewalk at the intersection of Route K, Sinclair Road and Old Plank Road. The project will also align Sinclair and Old Plank roads.
The estimated investment for the project is $1,622,000 funded through the 2015 Capital Improvement Sales Tax ballot as well as funds from the Missouri Department of Transportation and Columbia Public Schools.
