HOWARD COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Missouri Department of Transportation is seeking public comments on the impact of a 2022 project that will replace the U.S. Route 40 bridge over the Katy Trail and Salt Creek in Howard County.

Due to safety concerns, the Katy Trail will be temporarily detoured between County Road 457 and the Katy Trail pedestrian bridge. Signs and fencing will be installed to guide trail users over the detour route.

The trail detour could last up to 6 months, between March and December 2022.

The online public comment period is open through June 4.
