Vehicle in deadly hit and run in Moniteau County found

MONITEAU COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

UPDATE (7:30 p.m.): Corporal Kyle Green said Sunday evening the car involved in the deadly crash has been found.

Troopers are still working to identify who was driving the vehicle when the crash happened.

UPDATE: Missouri State Highway Patrol crash reports show 39-year-old Kathleen Bennett died in the crash and 47-year-old Ryan Wolfe was taken to Lake Regional Hospital by ambulance, then flown by helicopter to University Hospital with serious injuries.

The crash happened at 8:50 p.m. on Highway 87 near Shepherd Road.

Wolfe was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle with Bennett on the back when he hit the back of a vehicle in front of him and overturned the bike.

Both riders were thrown from the motorcycle.

This is Troop F's 4th fatality of may and 21st of 2021.

ORIGINAL:The Missouri State Highway Patrol is asking for the public's help in locating a vehicle involved in a fatal Saturday night crash.

According to Corporal Green with the MSHP, one person died just before 9 p.m. when a motorcycle with two people on it crashed into the back of a passenger vehicle.

A tweet from the MSHP says it happened on MO 87 near the Moniteau/Miller County line.

Authorities are looking for a dark blue passenger vehicle, possibly a Kia, with damage to the rear. The patrol says the car is wanted for leaving the scene of the fatal crash.

Green says the other person riding the motorcycle was transported to a lake area hospital.
