Mizzou football adds former NFL head coach as offensive analyst
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Former NFL head coach Scott Linehan is joining the Mizzou football staff as an offensive analyst.
Linehan went 11-25 as the head coach of the St. Louis Rams from 2006-08. Since then, the 57-year-old has had several coaching stops. Most recently, Linehan was the passing game coordinator at LSU last season. From 2015-18, he was the offensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys. In total - Linehan has 30 years of coaching experience.
“Scott Linehan is an exciting addition to our staff,” Mizzou football coach Eli Drinkwitz said in a release “He’s a true veteran of the profession with experience at a variety of levels. We all look forward to working with him.”
Linehan will now get to coach alongside his son Matt, who is currently a graduate assistant for the Tigers.
“I have great respect for Coach Drinkwitz and his vision for our program,” Linehan said in a release. “Mentoring collegiate players is an aspect of the profession I’ve always enjoyed and I’m thankful for this new role. Additionally, the opportunity to work with my son, Matt, as he begins his coaching career is truly special.”
Coach Drinkwitz now has two former NFL coaches on his staff - Scott Linehan and defensive coordinator Steve Wilks.
