Mizzou softball standout earns another freshman of the week honor

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou softball standout Jenna Laird is the SEC Freshman of the Week for the fourth time this season.

The New York native was a big part of the Tigers series win over No. 17 Tennessee this past weekend. Laird hit safely in all three games. She batted .375 with a home run and two RBI.

Laird finished the regular season as the top SEC freshman in multiple categories, including batting average, hits and runs.

The No. 15 MU softball team will begin SEC Tournament play this week in Tuscaloosa, Alab. The Tigers have a double-bye in this year's tournament. They do not know their first opponent just yet, but their opening game will be on Thursday around 1:35 p.m.
