Cardinals place Yadier Molina on injured list

ST. LOUIS (KMIZ)

Cardinals star catcher Yadier Molina is on the 10-day IL with a right foot tendon strain. The team announced the move on Tuesday afternoon.

Molina initially hurt himself during an at-bat on Friday night in Cincinnati. The nine-time All-Star returned to the lineup on Monday after missing two games. He was 0-3 at the plate, but he did catch all nine innings.

St. Louis also announced on Tuesday it's recalled catcher Ali Sánchez.

The Cardinals will take on Philadelphia at 6:45 p.m. Both teams are 11-11 on the season.
