No. 18 Mizzou softball falls to No. 8 Arkansas, still wins series

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KMIZ)

The No. 18 Mizzou softball team lost to No. 8 Arkansas 8-4 on Monday night, but the Tigers are still coming home with a series win.

Arkansas started the game hot. The Razorbacks were up 6-0 after the first two innings. The Tigers' bats didn't get going until the fourth inning when Kim Wert and Emma Raabe each hit two-run home runs to cut the lead to 6-4.

Former Mizzou standout Braxton Burnside answered with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth for Arkansas.

In the seventh inning, MU had the tying run at the plate, but Hatti Moore hit into a game-ending double play.

The Tigers are now 34-11 overall and 12-6 in the SEC. MU is currently tied for third in the conference.

Up next - Mizzou will host No. 3 Florida for a three game series starting on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
