SUNDAY UPDATES: Missouri hits another milestone with over 3 million vaccine doses administered
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services hit another benchmark in the fight against COVID-19 on Sunday, reporting over 3 million doses of the vaccine have been administered.
According to the state's dashboard, 3,038,964 doses of the coronavirus vaccine have been put in the arms of Missourians as of Sunday.
In the state, 1,895,020 people have initiated the vaccine processm which is about 30.9% of the popultion.
The number of people who have completed the process is close behind at 1,235,707, or about 20.1% of the population. Those who received the vaccine are considered fully vaccinated 2 weeks after their final dose.
From April 2 until April 8, 304,076 doses have been administered. That averages out to 43,439 per day.
The state's health department also reported 281 news cases of the virus on Sunday, bringing Missouri's total to 493,530 throughout the pandemic.
No new deaths were reported Sunday. The death toll stays at 8,515 in the Show Me State.
The state's 7-day positivity rate dropped slightly to 4.6%. It had been at 4.7% for at least 2 days before.
The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 also dropped Sunday and is now at 807 patients in the state. 119 of those are in the ICS, and 74 are reported to be using ventilators.
