First floor collapses in Tuesday morning Jefferson City fire

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Fire crews shut down parts of East Ashley Street and East Hess Way in Jefferson City for an early Tuesday morning fire.

According to Jefferson City Fire Department division chief, Jason Turner, there were no injuries reported. However, the first floor of the building collapsed into the basement.

Crews were called out around 4:20 a.m. to the 400 block of E Hess Way.

When crews arrived they found heavy fire coming from the property.

Four people were inside at the time of the fire. All got out safely.

The home sustained significant damage.

Crews were still working to put out hot spots at of 6 a.m.
