According to Columbia Police's Dispatch, the department has responded to 98 shots fired and shots heard calls in 2021.

Of those, 27 shots heard and shots fired calls have come in March with four robbery calls over the same period.

The department also advises using any outdoor lighting or motion sensor lighting outside of your home.

CPD says it is also important to ensure your garage is closed every night and not to leave work tools unsecured.

Residents should also check to make sure all valuables are taken out of the car, especially firearms.

Columbia PD says if you see something suspicious, say something. Residents can call either 911, or CrimeStoppers at 573-875-TIPS (8477).
