Over 225,000 Missourians vaccinated following Phase 1B Tier 3 activation

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

After the state activated Phase 1B Tier 3 on Monday, 225,016 Missourians got vaccinated through Friday.

According to the state's vaccine dashboard, 21.1% of Missourians have initiated the vaccination process, with 11.4% of Missourians fully vaccinated.

In a press release, Governor Parson announced the state is expected to see vaccine supply, "increase significantly in the coming weeks."

Parson also spoke at a mass vaccination event in Jefferson City on Friday saying it was difficult to decide who got vaccinated first, but feels as though the state has been fair to all Missourians.

As supply increases, the state announced they expect to open eligibility to residents in Phase 2 on March 29.

Those eligible in Phase 2 include:

  • Chemical Sector
  • Commercial Facilities Sector
  • Construction Sector
  • Critical Manufacturing Sector
  • Defense Industrial Base Sector
  • Financial Services Sector
  • Food/Agriculture Sector – remaining 
  • Government
  • Higher Education
  • Disproportionately Affected Populations
  • Homeless

The expansion to Tier 3 is expected to extend vaccine eligibility to 880,000 Missourians.

Missouri has a full list of those eligible on their website, with the state expecting to make all Missourians eligible April 9.

With all phases of Missouri's Vaccination Plan activated, approximately 4.5 million Missourians will be eligible to receive a dose.

The state estimates that approximately 60% of those eligible Missourians are interested in getting a COVID-19 vaccine.
