COLUMBIA, MO (KMIZ)

Phase 1B Tier 3 of the state's vaccine distribution plan will begin on Monday. Educators, government officials, and communication services employees will become eligible to receive a vaccine.

Boone County hosted its first mass vaccination clinic in partnership with the Missouri National Guard Friday where 1,802 doses of the Pfizer vaccine were administered during the clinic.

The clinic planned to administer 2,300 doses of the Pfizer vaccine. Sara Humm with the Columbia/Boone County Department says many people who were scheduled for the event did not show up to their appointments, therefore, leaving nearly 500 doses unused and leftover.

Humm said many people who were eligible but did not have an appointment showed up to the event in hopes to receive a vaccine. The health department planned to contact those people at the end of the clinic to come and get vaccinated with any doses they may have had leftover.

Eligible homebound patients also received a vaccine with the doses leftover from the clinic, any additional unopened doses were redistributed to local vaccinators.

The health department released an announcement after the clinic, of plans to make appointments available for anyone who is eligible next week. Appointments will be available Monday through Saturday for anyone who is eligible. The eligible population must either live or work in Boone County in order to receive an appointment.

Another local vaccinator offering appointments next week is Flow's Pharmacy. Owner Anthony Desha, said the pharmacy is prepared to begin taking appointments for the current eligible tiers and Tier 3 starting Monday.

"I'm just telling everybody just to call us and put your name on a list. We've got two lists, one's a standby list for people that are in the next phase and then one is a list that's for people that are currently eligible or will be eligible next Monday," said Desha.

Desha says all people need to do is call the pharmacy and get scheduled for an appointment. He says the pharmacy is planning to provide a drive-thru vaccination clinic soon in order to provide easy access to the vaccine for those who are eligible.

The number to call to get scheduled for a vaccine with Flow's Pharmacy is 573-449-5366.

As of Saturday 1,749,901 vaccines have been administered in the state of Missouri according to the state's vaccine dashboard. Across the state of Missouri, 618,918 people have received complete vaccination making up 10.1% of the state's population.

Boone County has administered 63,454 vaccine doses, 22.9% of the county's population has received at least one dose of the vaccine.
