Boone County to host National Guard mass vaccination clinic Friday

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Missouri National Guard partnered with Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services to host a mass vaccination clinic Friday at the Columbia Sports Fieldhouse.

There will be approximately 2,300 doses of the Pfizer vaccine available at the mass vaccination clinic.

Appointment times begin at 9:00 a.m. and are scheduled through 5:30 p.m.

Registration through the state's vaccine navigator is required in order to schedule an appointment.

Residents in Phase 1A; Phase 1B, Tier 1 and Phase 1B, Tier 2 are currently eligible for vaccination according to the state.

Phase 1A:

  • Healthcare Workers
  • Long-Term Care Facility Staff and Residents
  • Home Health
  • Urgent Care
  • Vaccination Staff
  • Congregate Community
  • School Nurses
  • Dental Office Staff
  • Mental/Behavior Health Providers
  • EMS/EMT/Paramedics

Phase 1B - Tier 1:

  • Public Health Administrators and Staff
  • Law Enforcement
  • Fire Services
  • Corrections
  • Emergency Management
  • Public Works
  • Emergency Services
  • Morticians, Embalmers, etc.

Phase 1B - Tier 2:

  • Anyone aged 65 and older
  • Any adults with cancer, Chronic Kidney Disease, COPD, Heart Conditions, weakened immune system due to organ transplant, severe obesity (BMI >40), pregnancy, Sickle Cell Disease, Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, or individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities such as Down Syndrome

Organizers are asking residents to show up on time for their scheduled appointment and to remember there is a 15 minute observation period after the vaccine has been administered.

Those who receive their first dose at Friday's clinic will be notified in approximately three weeks to schedule their second dose appointment.

The Area Agencies on Aging will provide registry assistance to those 60 years of age and older, who need help registering to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.

The group will also provide reminder calls and will help with transportation to and from the appointment if needed.
