Minor injury reported in west Columbia shooting

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Police say one person suffered minor injuries in a Tuesday morning shooting in west Columbia.

Police were called before 9 a.m. to the Columbia Square Town Homes on Claudell Lane for a report of shots fired, Columbia Police Department spokesman Jeff Pitts said at the scene. Vehicles and buildings were hit and one person suffered minor injuries from glass shards, police say. That person was treated at the scene.

No one was allowed into or out of nearby West Middle School or the Columbia Public Schools immediately after the call, police said.

Police were still at the scene investigating at about 9:30 a.m. One person was detained but police did not say why.
