COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Ragtag Film Society is set to host both online and socially distanced events to commemorate the day The True/False Film Festival would typically kick off.

The 'Rites of Spring' will have virtual events beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday with socially distanced events at the Boone County Courthouse Amphitheater scheduled to begin at noon Saturday.

In-person events include a community fire ritual, group art installation as well as a movie screening.

Other festivities include the third annual True/Love shopping event. Organizers partnered with local retailers and restaurants with 10 percent of Saturday's proceeds going towards supporting True/False.

Rites of Spring will also mark the beginning of an eight-week virtual True/False retrospective series called Hindsight.

The first Hindsight film will screened at a pop-up drive-in at RE/MAX Boone Realty’s parking lot at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday.

Organizers said safety remains a top priority for True/False. Events have been developed in collaboration with the Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services.
