Suspect arrested for Feb. 15 Columbia murder

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Boone County Sheriff's deputies arrested Tyreese Perkins, 19, of Columbia, Thursday for the homicide of Jakob Cole. Cole was found shot on the 4700 block of west Millbrook Dr. on Feb. 15.

Deputies responded to reports of shots fired on the evening of Feb. 15 in the area of W Millbrook Drive and S Essex Court.

Officials report that upon arrival, individuals were trying to save Cole's life and first responders took over providing medical aid until EMS arrived. Officials report Cole was shot multiple times.

According to the release, Cole was taken to a local hospital for treatment but died less than an hour after intial shots fired call.

Officials report the investigation into Cole's death is ongoing.

Perkins is charged with 1st-degree murder.

Bond has not been set, according to online court records.
