Delayed oversized load passes through Callaway County

An oversized load moves through the Steedman area of Callaway County on Monday, March 1, 2021.

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

An oversized load that was initially scheduled to go through Callaway and Montgomery counties last week hit the road Monday.

The load was set to carry equipment from Ameren Missouri's nuclear power plant in Callaway County to railroad tracks in Montgomery County. The trip was scheduled to end by 6 p.m. Monday after leaving the nuclear plant at about 8 a.m., according to a Missouri Department of Transportation news release.

The load was set to travel on Route CC, Route O and Highway 94 in Callaway County then on Highway 19 in Montgomery County, MoDOT said. MoDOT warned that delays of up to an hour are possible in some places because of the slow speeds the load must take on narrow roads.
