Mexico to host COVID-19 community testing event
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services is set to give out free COVID-19 tests in Mexico on Monday.
DHSS reported 2,137 new cases of COVID-19 in the state on Sunday.
The state also reported 2,158 people in Missouri hospitals with COVID-19.
Missouri ranks 26th in the nation for new cases reported in the last week.
The testing event is scheduled to take place in the Pressure Performing Arts Center parking lot and will run from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m.
Registration is strongly recommended for the event, with a form available on the department's website.
Missouri residents can also call 919-351-MAKO (6256) to register.
Upon completion of the registration, residents will receive an email with a QR code and booking ID.
DHSS is partnering with Missouri Community Health Center's and MAKO Medical Laboratories to offer these events free of charge.
The only eligibility requirement for the community testing event is a valid Missouri driver's license.
DHSS is asking those wait up to 30 minutes for completion of testing upon arrival.
Walk-ins to the event without prior registration cannot be guaranteed a test.
Once tested, residents will be notified of their results within 4-5 days.
