Mizzou’s late comeback falls short against LSU

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou women's basketball team's fourth quarter comeback came up short on Monday night. LSU beat the Tigers 66-64.

The Tigers outscored LSU 27-14 in the final 10 minutes, but it was not enough to win the game. MU is now 5-4 on the season and 1-3 in SEC play.

"I'm proud of the resiliency for sure, but it was just a little bit too late in the game," head coach Robin Pingeton said after the game.

Aijha Blackwell finished with a team-high 14 points and 11 rebounds, but she also had seven turnovers. MU finished the game with 20 turnovers, including 18 in the first three quarters. LSU scored 19 points off those turnovers.

"We're going to have to really learn from this one that even when things aren't going our way, we have to keep that energy," Mizzou guard Hayley Frank said after the game.

Mizzou also forced 20 LSU turnovers. Blackwell and Mama Dembele both led the Tigers with three steals.

Up next - MU will host No. 8 Texas A&M on Sunday at 4 p.m.
