SATURDAY UPDATES: State adds another 2,000 new COVID-19 cases

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

UPDATE: The Chariton County Health Center reported one new COVID-19 case Saturday.

There have been 752 cases within the county.

On Saturday there were 57 active cases of the virus.

The county has reported 16 COVID-19 related deaths.

ORIGINAL: The state health department reported 2,011 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday. It brings the pandemic total up to 436,199.

Daily virus-related deaths went up as well -- 24 more were reported on Saturday. The pandemic total topped out at 6,253.

Missouri ranked 22nd in the country for new COVID-19 cases reported over the last week -- 14,334. The dashboard said the state was 17th in the US for new coronavirus deaths over the same time period -- 62.

Hospital officials said 2,597 people were hospitalized and 576 were in the ICU because of COVID-19.
