Ameren Missouri electric customers to see bill increase Feb. 1

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Some Ameren Missouri customers should see an increase on their electric bills after a a fuel adjustment charge was approved by the Missouri Public Service Commission.

Ameren Missouri made two filings with the Commission affecting your bill.

Customers should see a current FAC credit of $1.89 flip to a charge. Ameren also plans to increase the charge by 26 cents.

That should equal a $2.15 cent utility bill increase for most customers.

The change is expected to take effect on February 1, 2021.

According to the release, the FAC tariff allows the company to pass increases or decreases in its net fuel and purchased power costs to customers outside of a general rate case.

Fuel adjustment charges are intended to help companies deal with volatility in fuel pricing.
