Cole County Sheriff’s Department responds to shooting

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Deputies with the Cole County Sheriff's Department received a 911 call reporting a possible home invasion and shooting Sunday morning.

The call reported the incident happened in the 10,000 block of Deer Run Road.

When they arrived around 6 a.m., deputies found a 50-year-old man with a single gunshot wound to his lower torso.

EMS crews transported the man to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He was later released.

During the investigation into the shooting, officials identified a male suspect and took him into custody in Miller County.

The Miller County Sheriff's Department, Jefferson City Police Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted with the investigation which is ongoing.
