Mizzou hoops jumps into AP Top 25

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou men's basketball team is ranked in the AP Top 25 for the first time since the 2013-14 season.

The Tigers are ranked No. 16 in the latest poll. That's their highest ranking since the 2012-13 season when MU was ranked as high as No. 7 in the nation.

Mizzou is off to a 5-0 start after its latest win over Illinois in the Braggin' Rights game on Saturday. Surprisingly, the Fighting Illini are still ranked ahead of the Tigers - coming in at No. 13. On SportsZone Sunday night - PowerMizzou publisher Gabe DeArmond actually predicted this would happen.

Also on Monday - the SEC named Dru Smith its conference player of the week. Smith had a team-high 18 points against the Fighting Illini. ICYMI - Here's a look back at the Tigers upset win over Illinois on Saturday.

Mizzou is back in action on Friday night against Prairie View A&M. The Tigers and Panthers will tipoff at 7 p.m.
