Two Mizzou freshman earn SEC weekly honors
The SEC handed out weekly awards to two Mizzou freshman on Monday. Connor Bazelak is the SEC freshman of the week, and Harrison Mevis is the SEC special teams player of the week.
Both were instrumental in the Tigers win over Arkansas on Saturday. Bazelak threw for 380 yards against the Hogs. With just 43 seconds to go in the game, the Ohio native was able to lead the Tigers into field goal range. He was 4/4 on the final drive.
Mevis was 5/5 kicking field goals on Saturday. Of course - he kicked the game-winner to give the Tigers a 50-48 win.
Mevis is also a semifinalist for the Lou Groza award, which goes the best kicker in college.

Also on Monday - linebacker Nick Bolton was named a semifinalist for the Bednarik Award. That award goes to the best defensive player in college football.
Up next - Mizzou will host Georgia at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
In basketball news - Mizzou guard Mark Smith is the SEC player of the week. Also - head coach Cuonzo Martin is ESPN's national coach of the week.
The Tigers off to a 3-0 start for the first time since the 2013-14 season. MU will be back in action on Wednesday at home against Liberty at 7:15 p.m.
