UM Board of Curators to vote on new indoor football practice facility

The UM Board of Curators will vote whether or not to approve a new indoor practice facility for the Mizzou football team in its meeting on Sunday.

According to meeting documents - MU Athletics argues its current indoor facility, Devine Pavilion, provides challenges for the football team. It was built in 1998, and the indoor field is only 70 yards. MU Athletics also said a new indoor football facility would free up Devine Pavilion for other sports to use all year - like baseball, softball and soccer.

If approved Sunday, MU Athletics will begin its planning process to build the indoor facility - including pre-design and figuring out the cost. An MU Athletics spokesperson said it will use private fundraising and future revenues to pay for the new facility.

Those plans will be due back to the UM Board of Curators by Jan. 30 of next year. The meeting starts at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
