BIRMINGHAM, Al. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou football team will be without three players for part of its next game following the SEC's ruling on the Mizzou and Florida brawl before halftime on Saturday.

The SEC has handed out a half-game suspension for fighting to LB Chad Bailey, OL Dylan Spencer and DL Markell Utsey for their part in Saturday's incident. MU is currently on a bye week, so they will miss the first half of Mizzou's game against No. 5 Georgia on Nov. 14.

The SEC came down on Florida as well. The league fined head coach Dan Mullen $25,000 for not displaying sportsmanship. The SEC said the fine will help fund the conference's post-graduate scholarship program. After the brawl, he appeared to pump up the crowd before heading back into the locker room.

Florida's Zach Carter and Antwuan Powell are also suspended for the first half of the Gators next game against No. 5 Georgia. Both of them were ejected on Saturday for fighting. Mizzou's Tre Williams was also ejected on Saturday, but he will not miss anymore time since he was flagged for a flagrant unsportsmanlike conduct foul - not fighting.

"There is no place in college football for the kind of incident that took place at halftime of the Missouri at Florida game Saturday night," SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said in a statement Monday. "Everyone involved is responsible for meeting sportsmanship standards throughout each game. Running on the field to confront a game official, the gathering of teams in an on-field confrontation and student-athletes throwing punches are all disappointing at any time, but even more so as we work to support healthy competition during a pandemic."
