Jefferson City police report thefts from vehicles

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Jefferson City Police Department is warning residents to be careful with their property in the coming week during the annual city wide cleanup.

The department said in a release it often takes reports for property that is taken that was not intended for the cleanup.

Police are also encouraging people to lock their vehicles because there will be more people than usual in neighborhoods.

The department said in the last several days it has taken reports for thefts from vehicles, all from unlocked vehicles.

Several firearms were taken during the thefts.
