SUNDAY UPDATES: Boone County reports fewer than 100 new COVID cases

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

UPDATE 5:00 P.M.: The Columbia/Boone County Health Department reported 67 new COVID-19 cases Sunday.

Sunday is the first day since September 2 that fewer than 100 new daily cases were reported.

The health department has reported 3,398 cases across the county. Out of that number 1,073 cases are active.

The five day average dropped to 137.8 on Sunday from 143.4 on Saturday.

UPDATE 4:00 P.M.: The Department of Health and Senior Services reported 1,232 new COVID-19 cases Sunday. The state has now reported 93,434 cases of the virus.

The department has reported 1,658 deaths from the virus in Missouri. Only two of those deaths were reported within the past 24 hours.

DHSS found inconsistencies in its data on deaths and found an additional 89 COVID-19 associated deaths that were not included in previous data. Most of those additional deaths occurred in June through August.

At least 966 people were hospitalized with the virus on Sunday.

The seven day rate of positive tests is at 13.8%. At least 1,045,843 people have been tested for the virus.

ORIGINAL: The Howard County Public Health Department reported three new COVID-19 cases Sunday.

The department said four people have been taken off of the active case list. There are now 71 active cases in Howard County.

There have been a total of 195.
