Saturday shooting victim dies, one arrested

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Joseph Hecht, 38, of Sturgeon died from injuries he received in a shooting in downtown Columbia.

Hecht died from a gunshot wound on Sunday.

The shooting took near 8th Street and Locust Street at around 12:40 a.m. on Saturday. Officers learned at the scene Hecht was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle before police or EMS arrived at the scene.

Columbia police arrested Kesan Tyree McNeal, 23, of Columbia for second-degree murder on Sunday.

Columbia police are now asking for the public's help in identifying a second suspect seen in the photos below:

The second suspect is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police department or CrimeStoppers.
