Father’s Day youth baseball tournament in full swing

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

As COVID-19 related restrictions continue to ease, youth baseball returned to Columbia this weekend.

Over 80 teams from Mid-Missouri, and Illinois aged 9 to 15 are taking part in The Father's Day Classic.

Barrett White, a coach at the tournament, said he's just happy to be back outside playing baseball.

"Finally the sun is out, everything is free and clear, we're back on the ball-field," White said. "Can't wait to get it done, hopefully bring home some hardware this weekend."

The tournament, being held by Greater Midwest Baseball, began on Friday and will wrap up Sunday night with the championship games being played at 7 p.m.

White's son Bodie, was also eager to play ball again.

"It's been really fun, I'm glad we got to get back out on the field," Bodie White said. "Kind of tired of being at the house, I mean it's a big area but still, my brother drives me crazy."
