One person hurt in Jefferson City shooting

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

One person was injured after a shooting near a Jefferson City Walgreens, according to police.

Police said people started calling 911 about a shooting in the 3700 block of W. Truman Boulevard just before 6:30 p.m.

Officers said they found an 18-year-old in a vehicle with gunshot wounds.

Police said other people in the vehicle were attempting life-saving measures, which officers took over when they got on scene.

The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to a news release.

The other people in the car were able to give a description of the suspect, according to police.

Police said a 21-year-old man went to the police department and turned himself in for his involvement in the shooting. Police said they questioned the man at the department but he declined to make a statement.

Police said they are also holding three people at the Cole County Jail for theft after discovering the people had intentionally met in the parking lot.

Police said they are currently not looking for any other suspects.
