Web Extra: J’den Cox speaks out about postponed 2020 Olympics

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KMIZ)

Former Mizzou and Hickman star J'den Cox said he's happy with the International Olympic Committee's decision to postpone the Tokyo Olympics to at least 2021 due to concerns surrounding COVID-19.

"You're asking me to give up one opportunity, so that somebody else doesn't have to give up every opportunity that they ever have," Cox said.

ABC 17 Sports Director Andrew Kauffman spoke with Cox in a one-on-one interview. You can watch the entire interview in the video player above.

J'den added, "The opportunities that you've lost and possibly will never have again - people are losing a lot more and It doesn't equal out. I know it's hard maybe because you don't see it. Maybe because it's not as bad where you're at. Maybe you're not even paying attention to it. But, I promise you there are a lot of people who are losing a lot more, losing their lives, losing their loved ones or hurting a lot more than we are. We lost a moment. They lost everything. So, let's keep that in perspective. It wasn't for nothing. You didn't lose an opportunity for no reason."
